From a driving dynamics standpoint, the LR3 is a real
winner with its combination of on-road handling and offroad
prowess. Nice touches include the six-speed automatic
transmission, fully independent and height-adjustable air
suspension, and Terrain Response, a five-setting system
that alters chassis and powertrain response according to
the driving conditions. In addition to the 4.4-litre 300 hp
V8, the LR3 is also available with a 4.0-litre 216 hp V6.
Disappointingly, we’re still waiting for the Euro-only twinturbodiesel
V8 to make its way across the pond. The LR3
comes in V6 SE, V8 SE and V8 HSE trim levels, while leather
trim, a power sunroof and a 240-watt Harman Kardon ninespeaker
sound system are all standard equipment. Available
on all V6 and V8 models is three-row, seven-passenger
seating and rear-seat climate control. LR3 pricing starts at
$53,900 for a V6 SE up to $64,200 for the V8 HSE.
